With newly appointed Student Government Association members stepping into their roles, change is on the horizon for students at the University of Memphis. But who are the students leading the charge to improve campus life?

The SGA is comprised of undergraduate students passionate about leadership and committed to shaping a better future for their peers.

“I like seeing change on campus, and being able to make that difference is something I take pride in,” said Stephaine Monisit, an SGA senator.

The organization’s mission is to address the concerns and challenges students face across campus. Many of its members embody this purpose, driven by a desire to be part of the solution.

“Once I see a problem, I make it my goal to fix it,” said Madi Hayslett, another SGA senator. “Whatever I have to do to get someone to pay attention to that issue, I’m going to do it.”

SGA aims to be a strong voice for the student body, advocating for representation, safety and support in all aspects of university life.

“I want SGA to be a place where students feel safe, heard, supported and represented,” said Abdul Alashmali, also a senator.

Members expressed excitement and gratitude for the opportunity to collaborate with their fellow leaders.

“I feel so honored to be in the same room and on the same platform as senators who are so intelligent and accomplished,” Hayslett said.
