Many students deal with long lines and wait times when making restaurant orders on campus, however the app Boost may have a solution to these problems.
Boost is a new app going across campus, with signs and booths promoting the app all over campus. But what is the app and how does the app work? Is the app good?
Boost can be difficult to connect to Tiger Funds. The app says you must put in the last 9 digits of your Tiger Eats number. This number can be hard to find, but the number is the small number above your barcode on the student ID card.
The app works with multiple places on campus and is required to get into the newly renovated UC market. However, in some locations the app does not work despite it saying it will.
Subway is available to order from on Boost, but the restaurant does not see the orders when they are made through the app.
“I ordered [Subway] so I could grab lunch and get to class,” said a student, “I have an exam in my next class and now I'm going to be late.”
While Subway will not have a Boost order ready when you get there, the staff was helpful to students whose orders got mixed up and they did not double charge any students.
For places where Boost works, you can place an order and pick it up in at least 15 minutes. Students can pay with Tiger Funds, Apple Pay, or credit/debit cards.
“So, you download the app, put in your student info and it's a little tricky and you got to verify three times,” said Louis Abele, a student. “Then you scan your barcode, go in, and walk out, it feels illegal to be honest.”
