Road Woes Continue for Memphis WBB

Memphis Women's Basketball took to the road for the first time in their conference slate in hopes of keeping pace in the AAC and turning the season around. The day did not go as planned for the Tigers, falling to UAB 73-56. This was the tied for lowest point total scored by Memphis this season, equaling that mark on Nov. 7 against Mississippi State.

The poor showing was mostly because of the 22 turnovers commited by Memphis, despite not committing any in a solid first quarter. On the defensive end of the ball, the Blazers got really whatever they wanted inside, finishing with 42 ppoints in the paint. This coming against one of the better perimeter teams in the American really showcases the Tigers' lack of depth at the four and five positions, mostly due to injury.

The bright spots in this game for Memphis weren't plentiful, but they are still absolutely there. Alasia Smith continues to be one of the better rebounders in the country as finishing the game with her fifth double-double this season, scoring 13 points to go with 17 boards.

As for UAB, they had two players, Journey Armstead and Maddie Walsh, finish with 20 points as they shot over 50% from the field as a team. They get their first conference win of the season and break a three game losing streak.

The Tigers will look to bounce back from this as they play Rice on the road on Jan. 12.
