The Tigers took a tough road loss on Wednesday against Ball State 95-66. The Tigers shot a little better in this game against Ball State but they still came up short.

Elauna Eaton led Memphis with 18 points, and Tanyuel Welch had 10 points. Memphis shot 42.66% from the 3-point line and 40.68% in total FG percentage. Memphis had a good shooting night overall.

Memphis lost the game because they could not shut down Ball State’s offense. Memphis still has a lot to improve on the defensive side of things.

Although as previously stated, this was a better offensive showing than their previous games against teams like Mississippi State, the Tigers still must put more points on the board.

More players must get involved on offense and produce points for them to be successful.

Michigan State transfer DeeDee Hageman should provide a boost offensively when she becomes eligible at the conclusion of the fall semester, but the defense remains a concern for the long-term success of this team.

Memphis’ perimeter defense looked good on the bright side, holding Ball State to 22.86% (8-35) from three-point range. The Tigers play Southeastern Louisiana next Tuesday November 19 at 7 p.m. at Elma Roane Fieldhouse.
