Building a business can be daunting, but for many, it’s a challenge they embrace—not just to grow their ventures but also to connect with others and support students in their professional journeys.
On Nov. 20 at 4 p.m., the Crews Center for Entrepreneurship hosted a networking event that brought local businesses and students together to foster connections, share resources, and build relationships.
“Networking is a big part of a lot of our students transitioning into their professional lives, so we wanted to give them the opportunity and the safe environment to connect with our partners,” said Dawn Kimble, assistant director of the Crews Center.
Organizations such as the Center for Writing and Communication (CWC), Sandbox Studio 224 for Podcasting, and Good Person showcased their services to students.
“We hope to support public speaking and presentations,” said Terie Box, operations coordinator for the CWC. “Students can come to the studio with a consultant to present job pitches and business ideas.”
Sandbox Studio aimed to raise awareness of its offerings.
“One of the big parts of our job is letting people know the Sandbox is in the library,” said Benjamin Clanton, emerging technology integration specialist. “We hope students will visit and take advantage of our services.”
To encourage engagement, a bingo game required students to interact with representatives from each organization.
By the end of the event, attendees left with new connections and insights, while businesses found a platform to promote their services. It was more than networking—it was a celebration of collaboration, creativity, and preparing students for success.
