Tigers Split Road Trip Versus Central Arkansas and Nicholls State

The Memphis Tigers are currently on their first road trip of the season as they went 2 of 4 this week to push their record to 8-4. The Tigers defeated Central Arkansas and Nicholls State once.

Although, they lost their weekend series versus Nicholls State by winning on Friday but dropping both games Saturday and Sunday.

Memphis captured its first road win versus Central Arkansas as Glenn Green III picked up the win and the lefty closer Dalton Kendrick captured his second save of the season.

Second baseman Austin Baskin opened the week with a solo home run to give Memphis a 1-0 lead. Center fielder Brayland Skinner pushed the lead even more with a three-run home run to keep Memphis in control as they would win 8-6.

Senior lefty pitcher Dalton Fowler won the game on Friday for the Tigers and Dalton Kendrick picked up his third save of this season.

Designated Hitter Cameron Benson and Right Fielder RJ Jimerson pushed the Tigers to a close 3-2 victory.

The Tigers were on a five-game winning streak going into Saturday’s game but dropped the game 9-8.

Nicholls would score three 9th-inning runs to erase the Memphis lead and walk off the Tigers to snap the win streak.

Nicholls would dominate Sunday’s game 9-2 as they got out to a 6-run first inning that included an inside-the-park grand slam.

Sunday was a rough outing for Freshman Pitcher Seth Garner.

“We got out and were chasing six runs right away. It just wasn't the best day for Seth, but that happens,” Coach Jackson told the media.

Despite the unfortunate ending to the series in Louisiana, the Tigers are off to their best start since 2014.

Memphis will look to continue the hot start on Tuesday as they stay on the road to face UL-Monroe before heading home to take on Indiana State this weekend.

The game will take place at 6 P.M. CT.
