The Memphis Tigers Men’s Basketball Team held their send-off to Columbus at the Laurie-Walton Family Basketball Center.
Hundreds of fans and students showed up early in blue to send the team off to Columbus in good spirits ahead of their first-round matchup.
The Tigers walked out with a great deal of confidence as they look to continue their momentum from the American Athletic Conference Championship run.
The big story is Kendric Davis getting his first chance to play in the tournament. Davis will look to make his mark on the tournament as he looks to take the Tigers deep into the tournament.
Davis has crossed a great amount off his checklist since coming to Memphis. A potential Final Four run would only make things sweeter.
They will need the momentum as their opponent is no pushover opponent. In March, there is no easy opponent.
Florida Atlantic finished the regular season winning the Conference USA title and a 31-3 regular season record.
Sophomore guard Johnell Davis leads the Owls with 13.5 points per game, while Memphis guard Kendric Davis leads the team with 22 points ahead of the matchup.
The experts have Memphis as a 60 percent favorite for the matchup and a favorable opponent for a potential second-round matchup against 1-seeded Purdue.
The Tigers will need to get off to a fast start to establish themselves as favorites and take control of momentum to prevent any chance of an upset.
Memphis will face Florida Atlantic on Friday at 8:20 PM CT on TNT.
