CodeCrew Relocating to UofM Research Park

CodeCrew, a non-profit organization that teaches kids and adults to innovate tech through gaining hands-on experience in computer science education, has relocated its headquarters to the University of Memphis’ UMRF Research Park.

Created in 2015, the organization has taught more than 2,000 students how to code through various programs such as internships, summer camps and in-school electives. Their goal and mission are to ensure that all their participants learn the concepts of digital systems and computation.

“We are very excited to move our operations to the UMRF Research Park. We now have more accessibility to innovate our programs and directly connect with employers, partners and aspiring developers,” said Meka Egwuekwe, the executive director of CodeCrew, in a press release about their offices relocating.

Founded in 2019, the University of Memphis Research Foundation, also known as UMRF Research Park, has become a place that bonds the community and innovation. Dr. Jasbir Dhaliwal, UofM executive vice president for Research & Innovation stated, “We’re proud to support organizations like CodeCrew to help further their mission of connecting underrepresented youth in Memphis to career pathways in technology.”

CodeCrew serves over 500 kids weekly and of those students 91% are black or latinx, 41% are girls and collectively, over 89% are more likely to study computer science.
