Halloween 2021: Where to get scared this year

For students itching for a good scare or just some good fun, here are some of this year’s best Halloween events happening right here at the UofM:

Sigma Phi Epsilon Haunted House: Sigma Phi Epsilon is hosting their annual haunted house on Oct. 28 and 29. Rooms in the house are themed with all sorts of spooky creatures. If you are looking to be scared, go to the haunted house located at 3586 Midland Ave. Tickets for the event cost $10 and all proceeds go to Big Brothers Big Sisters of America.

International Halloween Party: The International Center is hosting a party Oct. 29 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the International Center. Come dressed in your best costume for the contest, paint pumpkins, dance, eat food and enjoy the night. All University of Memphis students and faculty are welcomed. 

R&J&Z: "R&J&Z" stands for Romeo, Juliet, and Zombies. It is an adaptation to Shakespear’s :"Romeo and Juliet"The University of Memphis Theatre and Dance department is performing the show Oct. 28-30 as well as Nov. 4-6 at 7:30 p.m. On opening day at 2 p.m.,  there will be a zombie walk across campus to kick off the play. Students and faculty receive one free ticket to the show and one guest ticket at a discounted price. They may be purchased online or at the door. 

And for those that dare venture out beyond the confines of campus, here are some of the biggest and best events happening around the city:

Zoo Boo: The Memphis Zoo partnered with LeBonheur Children’s Hospital to throw their annual Zoo Boo event. Zoo Boo is a family-friendly event with activities for all ages. It runs Oct. 28-31. Tickets are $13 for members and $15 for non-members. They must be purchased in advanced.

Fright Light Halloween Laser Show: The Pink Palace Museum of Science and History hosts a laser light show on Fridays and Saturdays during the month of October from 8:30-9:30 p.m. All tickets must be purchased online.

The Agricenter Corn Maze- Every year the Agricenter hosts a corn maze. The maze is typically an un-scary path of twists and turns expect for the few days out of the month that it becomes the haunted corn maze. Adult tickets for the regular maze are $7. For the haunted maze, tickets are $15. This year, the haunted events are Oct. 26-27, Oct. 31, and Nov. 1.
