One of the largest urban parks in America, Shelby Farms Park, will host a two-night, drive-in movie event to celebrate Halloween.
In partnership with T-mobile, Shelby Farms is inviting visitors to a drive-in movie experience as part of their "The Park After Dark" series. It is a family-friendly, socially distanced evening of entertainment, according to a release from the park.
The event will feature two films, the first will screen on Oct. 30 and will be a classic horror-thriller from 1963, Alfred Hitchcock’s The Birds. The second, which will be presented on Halloween night, Oct. 31, will be the 2018 superhero film, Black Panther, starring the late Chadwick Boseman.
Gates to the park are set to open at 5 p.m., and showtime will be at 6:30 p.m. Moviegoers are to enter the park through Gate 10 off of Mullins Station Road.
Tickets for the event are to be purchased in advance online, as the purchase of tickets on-site will not be available. Tickets are $25 per vehicle, and the event's proceeds will support the daily operations and maintenance of Shelby Farms Park and Shelby Farms Greenline.
Concessions will also be available to purchase in the park. After all, what is a movie without snacks? Shelby Farms Park officials said moviegoers are strongly encouraged to follow the Shelby County COVID-19 guidelines. This means that all patrons will be socially distanced and wear face-covering masks when walking to and standing in line for snacks. While attendees are to stay in the immediate area of their cars, they are welcome to bring chairs and blankets to set up for their spooky movie night.
The Halloween spirit lives, and a spooky drive-in movie night is just what we need during these overly complicated times.
