- A University of Memphis student was evicted from the Student Family Housing for possessing illegal drugs and drug paraphernalia in his room Dec. 23, 2019. At 2:22 p.m. Jan. 8, Officer Vickers was sent to help clean out the room, because the student left the drugs and paraphernalia. All items left in the room were tagged in the UofM property room in the campus police services building.
- On Jan. 7, Lieutenant R. Franz noticed a broken gate at 12:43 a.m. on the 600th block of Patterson. Officer Dorado reported to the scene at 1:20 a.m. Franz noticed the gate to the Lot 17 parking lot was broken and propped up against the post. UofM officers gave a citation to a UofM student for illegal entry. The passenger, who got out of the vehicle and broke the gate to allow the UofM student to pass through, was not a UofM student and was told by UofM officers that they would be in contact about the damage to the gate.
- Officer J. Hudgens responded to a theft at 570 Houston at 1:30 p.m. Dec. 30, 2019. The theft was reported by the foreman of the construction site for the Brad Martin and Health Center. The foreman said that while away on Christmas Break, someone cut the chain on the gate to the construction site and then broke open two containers and took the property from one.
- Officer Daniels responded to a residential burglary at 3995 Southern Ave. Dec. 29, 2019 at 4:47 p.m. The victim said their 32” television, video game system, games, controllers and camera were stolen from the home. There was no sign of forced entry, and the case is still under investigation.
- Officer D. Hamer responded to the theft of construction equipment at 570 Houston St. Dec. 28, 2019, at 12:30 p.m. The witness said he was doing work for the UofM parking garage on Southern Avenue and saw one male suspect leaving the construction site with $300 worth of electrical cables. The suspect got away in a blue and white Dodge truck driving west on Spottswood Avenue. The case is still under investigation.
- Officer Vickers responded to a theft call at the Holiday Inn on Christmas Day, 2019, at 10:05 a.m. The victim said they came out to the parking lot on the east side of the parking lot and found their truck window was broken. The truck had been ransacked, and the police made a list of all the stolen items.
- A UofM student called the UofM Lambuth Police Services after finding his wife’s car had been burglarized while left unattended in the parking lot on 312 N. Fairgrounds in the UofM Lambuth Oxley Commons residential housing area. Several items were reported missing from the vehicle.
- Officer Hudgens responded to a theft call at Centennial Palace on Dec. 16, 2019, at 11:10 a.m. The victim said they left their belongings in the third-floor laundry room, and when they returned, the property was missing.
- Officer Vickers arrived at Wilder Tower after receiving a call about a suspicious person. The suspect was located and refused to leave the building. The suspect was then arrested on charges for criminal trespassing.
- Officer T. Smith and Officer E. Fitchpatrick arrived at 3895 Tiger Paw North #104 Dec. 21, 2019, at 8:05 p.m., where two roommates got into a physical altercation that was broken up by a witness. One roommate grabbed a knife from the kitchen. The victim said that the suspect threatened her with the knife, and the roommate with the knife was arrested and charged with aggravated assault.
