1. Student’s car tire slashed in Southern Avenue parking lot
A student told campus police her car’s tire had been slashed while parked on Southern Avenue parking lot Sept. 22, according to a campus police report written by officer James Vickers.
The 23-year-old victim told police she went out to her vehicle around 3 p.m. that day and noticed the right front tire was flat. She then went to have the tire replaced and was told by the mechanic the tire had been cut multiple times, according to the report.
2. Student throws chair across classroom
Campus police responded to a case of intimidation in Clement Hall on Sept. 24 when a 20-year-old student threw a chair across the room in front of an instructor, according to a campus police report written by officer John Hudgens. The instructor said the student had no problems before that day.
The student packed his things and left after throwing the chair, according to the report. Other students in the class said they heard the student make a threat as he was leaving. The case is still under investigation.
3. Tiger Dining employee threatened
The father of a Tiger Dining employee complained to police Sept. 25 about threats made to his son, according to a campus police report written by officer John Hudgens.
The father told police a man aged 20-25 years old previously made threats to his 24-year-old son regarding money, according to the report. The case is still under investigation.
4. Students had stereos stolen from car
Campus police responded to two accounts of car stereos being stolen from students’ vehicles that were parked in the Central Avenue parking lot Sept. 25, according to a campus police report written by officer Randy Phillips.
The thefts happened sometime between 9:30 a.m. and 4:10 p.m. The doors to both vehicles were pried open, and the only thing stolen from both vehicles was the stereo, according to the police report.
5. Student’s bicycle stolen outside Patterson Hall
Campus police responded to a complaint about a stolen bicycle outside Patterson Hall on Sept. 25, according to a campus police report by officer Chanancy Donaldson.
The 22-year-old victim told police he parked and locked his Schwinn Boundary bicycle outside Patterson Hall around 5 p.m. and returned later in the evening to find the bicycle and the lock missing. The case is still under investigation.
6. Student’s vehicle vandalized in Central Avenue parking lot
Campus police responded to a vandalism complaint Sept. 26 when a student reported the door handle to his truck was punched in, and the vehicle had been ransacked, according to a police report written by officer Claude Berry.
The 20-year-old student told police he parked his black 2006 Ford F-150 in the Central Avenue parking lot earlier that morning. When he returned to his truck around 11:50 a.m, he noticed the damage and called campus police. No items were stolen from the vehicle. There is no information on the suspect.
7. Computer modem stolen from landscape office
A faculty member told campus police a computer modem had been stolen from the landscape office in the physical plant Sept. 27, according to a campus police report written by officer James Vickers.
At 7:34 a.m., the 63-year-old faculty member told campus police he noticed the modem was missing, and the computer cable was on the floor when he arrived for work that morning. He said the modem was in the landscape office when he left the previous day. The case is still under investigation.
8. Parking tag stolen from University of Memphis music van
Campus police responded to a complaint about a parking tag that was stolen from a U of M van Sept. 28, according to a campus police report written by officer Anthony Black.
The victim told police the parking tag was stolen from the van sometime between 5 p.m. Sept. 27 and 7:17 a.m. Sept. 28. The van was parked south of the music building, and the victim said the van was likely unlocked, and the van’s sliding door was open.
9. Bush stolen from garden
Campus police responded to a complaint about a bush being stolen from the TIGUrS garden on Zach Curlin Street on Oct. 1, according to a campus police report written by officer John Hudgens.
A witness told police she saw a woman pull a bush out of a concrete block garden and get into a white car heading south on Zach Curlin Street. The woman said she was not wearing her glasses and could not see fully, according to the police report.
