With spring break right around the corner, students are making plans to enjoy their time off from school. Some of the best memories happen during spring break, and these students have some interesting memories to look back on.
“Last spring break I turned 21, and my friends decided to take me to Las Vegas. I didn’t know about it. It was a surprise to me, so I woke up to a text saying we were going to Las Vegas. On the first night we were in a room and there was a huge cake waiting for me, and a girl pops out the cake. I later found out she was a stripper. She danced for everyone in the room and we had fun. On the second night we went to the slots and we wasted thousands of dollars. No one won anything. After that we went to a pool party full of people, and I got drunk for the first time. I did not feel safe at all, and I woke up the next morning naked in somebody else’s room on the bathroom floor.†Khalil Castal, 22, Health Studies, Collierville, Tennessee.
“Well for some reason I thought it would be a good idea to walk to Panama City at 3 a.m. Somehow, I got lost and ended up on a hotel beach area. I couldn’t find the road, so I kept falling over as I was climbing fences. I lost my hat and my glasses. Eventually the next morning my friends found me.†Tyre Baker, 19, Exercise Movement Science, Memphis.
“I remember one spring break I was pissed because my boyfriend broke up with me for another girl, so my sisters and friends got me drunk to ease the pain. We got so drunk that we decided to throw eggs and tissue at his car. We went back home and watched Wrong Turn after that.†Kayla Holmes, 18, Physical Therapy, Memphis.
“Last year I went to Gatlinburg and in our hotel we were staying in we were up in the mountains. It had a bunch of bear signs around the hotel grounds. One day, there was a bear that was actually out there in the hotel parking lot, so of course they called the rangers to come get the bear off the property. Luckily nobody was hurt.†Anthony Hodges, 20, Business management, Memphis.
“Well I usually just go home for spring break, but this year I will be going on the alternative spring break trip. I will be going to Atlanta working with Cool Girls, putting food together for the homeless, keeping watch at a warehouse and we will be building a house.†Alundra Peete, 21, Psychology, Chicago.
“Last spring break we went to Destin, Florida. We got a chance to get on a helicopter ride to look down on the gators in the water. We were just sitting on the beach and going to parties. It was real fun.†Lorenzo Brown, 21, management Information Systems, Memphis.
“Well I will be going to New York for a kind of fun like job spring break for me. I’m going there to interview with some radio stations, and also just to go visit New York and some friends. It’s something different from Memphis, so I had to go do something fun.†Jaylon Wallace, 22, Journalism, Memphis.
