1. Vandalism at U of M rental property
Officers responded to a property vandalism call Feb. 17. The victim told police he and his roommates left their apartment at about 8:45 p.m., returned at 9:30 p.m. and noticed the window on the west side of the apartment was broken, according to a campus police report written by officer Chanancy Donaldson.
At the crime scene, another resident told the officer someone broke his apartment and car windows, according to the report. The report states there were no missing items from the car or the victims’ apartments.
2. Phone stolen in FedEx Institute of Technology building
Campus police received a call Feb. 26 about a stolen cell phone. The woman told police she placed her phone on a table in room 405 of the FedEx building, but it was missing when she returned, according to a campus police report written by officer Robert Frans. The victim said she did not see anyone steal the phone, but she did see three men near the location, according to the report.
3. Theft in Smith Hall
Officers responded to a report of a stolen iPad 5 on Feb. 28. The woman told police her ex-boyfriend stole her room key from her coat pocket in the Smith Hall lobby, then ran to her room and stole her iPad 5, according to a campus police report written by officer Stephen Grisham. The woman said the suspect had the iPad 5 in his possession when he drove off in his black Nissan Maxima, which was last seen heading north on Patterson Street toward Central Avenue, according to the report.
4. Fondling incident reported in Rawls Hall
Officers responded to a report of forcible fondling in Rawls Hall on Feb 28. The woman said the suspect grabbed her buttocks during their conversation on the lobby’s fourth floor, according to a campus police report written by officer Tina Crowe. The case is still being investigated.
5. Drug violation in Carpenter Complex
Officers received a call about a drug violation on Feb. 28, which stemmed from an ongoing investigation. The suspect had marijuana and drug paraphernalia in his possession, according to a campus police report written by officer Robert Frans. The suspect was arrested and taken to 201 Poplar Ave. and the evidence is being held at the Memphis Police Department’s Property and Evidence room, according to the report.
6. Theft in the student Recreation Center
An officer responded to a theft report March 5 about stolen headphones. The victim told the officer he left some of his belongings in the locker room a day before and realized he was missing his headphones, according to a campus police report written by officer Chanancy Donaldson. The case is still being investigated.
