For students staying in Memphis during winter break, the city has many options to choose from if they want to have some holiday fun.
Shelby Farms Park’s “Starry Nights,” the largest holiday light show and festival in the Mid-South, will show through Dec. 27. Visitors can drive through holiday light displays Sundays through Thursdays each week from 6 to 9 p.m. and Fridays and Saturdays from 6 to 10 p.m. Tickets cost $20 per car or $15 for park members.
Shelby Farms is also presenting “Mistletoe Village” at the First Tennessee Foundation visitor center. “Mistletoe Village” is open Sunday through Thursday from 6 to 9 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 6 to 10 p.m. Saturday and Sunday daytime hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Visitors can purchase hot chocolate, roasted s’mores, eat food from local food trucks at the Holiday Food Court, take photos with Santa and browse holiday gifts from local vendors at the Artisan Front Porch.
The Memphis Zoo is presenting “SunTrust Zoo Lights” from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. on select evenings until Dec. 30. Tickets are $7 for zoo members and $9 for nonmembers. Activities include a 90-foot Ferris wheel, live reindeer, holiday light displays, hot chocolate and holiday treats, camel rides, photos with Santa and more.
“Holiday Wonders at the Garden” runs through Dec. 30 on select evenings at the Memphis Botanic Garden and features activities, lights, music, food and drinks. Tickets cost $12 at the gate. The event includes:
“Snowy Nights at the Garden,” an outdoor children’s garden,
“Trees Alight at the Garden,” a half-hour light display with synchronized holiday music,
And “Sculptures Bright at the Garden,” a display of the Garden’s sculpture collection and sculptures on loan for the holidays.
The Pink Palace Museum is presenting “Enchanted Forest: Festival of Trees” through Dec. 31. The forest is open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. with extended hours on Fridays until 9 p.m. Tickets cost $5 for children and $6 for adults. The forest includes the “Festival of Trees” decorated by professional designers, a gingerbread village and photos with Santa.
