Shakespeare once wrote, “He that hath a beard is more than a youth, and he that hath no beard is less than a man.” Words to remember on “National No Beard Day,” a holiday meant to celebrate smooth faces. Those partaking in festivities are encouraged to shave their faces and post a selfie with the“#NationalNoBeardDay.”
For those choosing to acknowledge the day, a study of 408 hospital staff members, by the Journal of Hospital Infection, found that those with shaven faces were more than three times as likely to be harboring antibiotic resistant staff infection on their face. Researchers suggested that shaving might cause “micro-abrasions in the skin” which may support “bacterial colonization.”
“It is National No Beard Day. Are you going to shave and how do you think people should celebrate?”
