1 — Stereo/DVD player and gun stolen on Southern Avenue
A 20-year-old male reported on Sept. 6 that his 2004 Chevrolet was broken into while parked at 591 Echles, and his stereo/ DVD player was missing, according to a campus police report by officer William Skinner. The victim also said his father’s Glock 23 handgun was taken from the vehicle as well, according to the report. Prints were recovered from the driver’s side possibly left by the suspect, and the property was tagged at the University of Memphis property room, according to the report.
2 — Golf equipment stolen from vehicle on Southern Avenue
A male student advised campus police on Sept. 12 he had his golf clubs, bag, balls, tees and gloves stolen from his vehicle, according to a police report by officer Marco Anderson. The 18-year-old said either he left his car doors unlocked or the trunk open by mistake. The victim stated he parked his vehicle in the parking lot on Southern Avenue from Sept. 11 around 9 p.m. to Sept. 12 around 6 a.m. Anderson observed no pry marks, broken glass, fingerprints or scratches on the student’s vehicle, according to the report.
3 — Alumna’s Honda vandalized
A U of M alumna advised campus police on Sept. 8 that her vehicle had a shattered rear window and a dent on the left side of the car by the rear windshield, according to a police report by officer Anthony Black. Police were called to parking lot #37 on Patterson Avenue around 9:35 p.m. by the alumna, according to the report. The 20-yearold’s 2001 Honda Civic had been backed into a parking space next to the fence near a construction site from around 8 a.m. to 9:30 p.m., and a large rock was found along with broken glass from the vehicle behind the space where the vehicle was parked. According to the report, the alumna had no conflicts with anyone prior to this vandalization.
4 — Ford window smashed on Central Avenue
A U of M groundskeeper noticed the glass of a passenger door to a 2007 Ford F-150 had been smashed out, according to a police report written on Sept. 7 by officer Mark McClain. A male student advised campus police he parked his truck on the first row of lot #44 on Central Avenue across from the Engineering Administration Building from 7:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. Officer Randy Phillips came to the scene to dust the vehicle for fingerprints, but no prints were found on the interior or exterior, according to the report. The aftermarket radio and plastic radio cover from the back seat were taken, according to the report.
5 — Wallet theft at Tiger Den
A female student advised campus police on Sept. 9 that an unknown person took her wallet from her purse between 8 a.m. and noon in the Tiger Den Cafeteria at 3718 Alumni Ave., according to a campus police report by officer John Hudgens. The wallet contained $90 cash, some change and a key to a room at the Fogelman Executive Center & Hotel on campus, according to the report. There were no identifying marks on the black wallet to help with its description.
6 — Campus Card stolen, funds exhausted
On Sept. 9, a male student walked into U of M Police Services at 505 Zach Curlin around 10:40 a.m. and said his Campus Card funds had been stolen, according to a police report written by officer James Greenleaf. The 18-year-old advised that on Sept. 5, he tried to purchase food on his meal plan card at the Tiger Den and discovered the funds had been exhausted. The student is a resident of Centennial Place and believes his funds could have been used wrongfully between July 1 and Sept. 9, according to the report.
7 — Money from office cabinet missing
A female staff member advised campus police on Sept. 8 at 2:10 p.m. that money was missing from a locked cabinet in an office on University Avenue and could have been taken between Aug. 24 and Aug. 30, according to a police report by officer Claude Berry. There were no signs of forced entry into the cabinet, and the case is under investigation, according to the report.
