TIGUrS Urban Garden to celebrate Earth Day

The Tigers Initiative for Gardens in Urban Settings, or TIGUrS, will be hosting a plethora of entertainment from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Wednesday in celebration of Earth Day in the urban garden behind the Elma Roane Fieldhouse.

Bluff City Soul Collective, a U of M music industry-student-comprised group, will be performing at 12:30 p.m. before giveaways and a closing ceremony.

Other notable events include morning yoga with Shelby White, two different servings of lunch, the annual butterfly release, live classical music by Aaron Brock and ZUMBA with Amy Pica.

This is the seventh annual Earth Day celebration on campus. Nature’s Earth of Memphis, located on Summer Avenue, contributes to the University of Memphis urban gardens.

The student green fee also makes the garden possible.

This “green fee” is also known as the sustainable campus fee and represents $10 from each students tuition. In total $30,000 helps projects like the TIGUrS urban garden thrive on campus.

Bluff City Soul Collective is completely comprised of Rudi E. Scheidt Music Industry students and recently performed at the Hear901 Music Festival.
