University of Memphis students began to fill the Alumni Lawn Friday in anticipation to for Hip-Hop artists Tory Lanez and Rae Sremmurd performance. Many packed in shoulder to shoulder for the closest position to the stage three-hours before the scheduled performance.
Lanez started his performance demanding the crowd participate in singing along to classic Hip-Hop hits from the 90s. Twenty minutes into his performance Lanez leapt into the crowd. Surfing into the middle of the audience, Lanez was lifted into the air as he continued to sing.
Lanez ended his performance by calling three of the “finest” girls from the crowd to twerk on stage. After the departure of Lanez, Rae Sremmurd took the stage.
Opening with their song “No Flex Zone.” The duo had the hot and sweaty crowd screaming their lyrics at the top of their lungs.
The two controlled the crowd throughout their entire set, leaving their mark on the U of M campus. The U of M’s Student Activity Council organized the event.
