The University of Memphis will host a free hands-on workshop to faculty and staff led by the UM3D Instructional Impact and Center for Teaching and Learning.
The workshop will be held in The Zone, located in the FedEx Institute of Technology, April 28 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Kate Williams, 21, economics junior, used to work for the Information Technology Services at the U of M.
“This workshop will be a great way for faculty to be more aware of the changing technology we are constantly seeing,” Williams said. “We get a lot of calls from professors who need someone to fix their classroom computers because they don’t know how they work.”
The workshop is designed to provide instruction and training for better access of useful course materials.
The UM3D is a program for U of M faculty and staff to get resources to effectively teach the future generations through both face-to-face and online classes.
Their model is the support faculty in design, development and delivery of high quality education, according to their website. The primary goal is to educate professors so they can better educate students.
“Since technology is a big part of our generation, I think students will benefit from professors attending this workshop,” Williams said.
The Center for Teaching and Learning provides technology support for faculty and staff. The vision is to connect the community to teaching and technology resources that promote student success in different learning environments, according to their website.
The event is free, and lunch will be provided, but those who want to attend must register by April 25 through the Eventbrite online event planning website.
