University of Memphis guard Dante Scott became the third men’s basketball player in as many days as he announced his decision to transfer on social media Tuesday afternoon.

“I want to thank God for the opportunity I was blessed with at the University of Memphis,” Scott wrote. “I’ve built some great relationships and bonds that may never be broken here in Memphis. I would like to thank my family, friends, and teammates for everything and all of their support. I am thankful for every opportunity that the University of Memphis has provided me with, but my family and I feel it’s best if I go on seek other opportunities and part ways.”

Scott joins Avery Woodson and Randall Broddie as Tigers who have parted ways with the program this week. In addition while the transfer of a walk-on is usually of little note, Scott is the 13th player to transfer from Josh Pastner’s program since August 2014.

Scott, who walked-on at Memphis despite having several scholarship offers including Mississippi State, was a three-star recruit, according to 247 Sports Composite Rankings. He joined the U of M from IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida.

“It was very difficult, but I mean I just stick with it and try and stay positive throughout the whole thing,” said Scott in a The Daily Helmsman article last November, when asked about the decision to walk-on at Memphis. “Coach (Josh) Pastner supports me and we talked, and you know sometimes you can think about what you could’ve done, but I just prayed, really. I believe that God’s got a plan for me, so everything happens for a reason, so I just pray and keep pushing forward.”

Unsurprisingly, Scott got little playing time for the Blue and Gray, as he logged in just 27 minutes in 10 games this season. He recorded four points on 1-15 shooting, including 0-6 from 3-point range, and six rebounds.
