Sixteen faculty members at the University of Memphis will be honored Friday for their research in biologistics.
The researchers who will be recognized are from five of the U of M’s colleges and seven of the University’s departments. On Friday, they will all become the University’s Biologistics Research Fellows.
Two departments at the University have come together to conduct the research, the FedEx Institute of Technology and the Intermodal Freight Transportation Institute.
The director of IFTI, Stephanie Ivey, said in a press release that biologistic transportation is quickly growing, so the department must stay present with its research.
Graduate students and other faculty members helped with the research in hopes to help the University gain national recognition in biologistic research.
“Soon we will be the first university in the country to have 16 faculty members working collaboratively to move biologistics forward, both as an industry sector and a theoretical discipline,” Jasbir Dhaliwal, executive director of the FedEx Institute said in a press release.
These educators and their project team will have the opportunity to present their research at the Biologistics Lightning Talks event Friday, Jan. 22, at 3:30 p.m. in the FedEx Institute. The event is free and open to the campus community as well as the general public.
