The University of Memphis’ annual women’s history poster contest is accepting entries through midnight Friday. The contest is meant to help students become more aware of and celebrate the acts of women who have driven positive change in both the past and present.
The contest is sponsored by the Women's History Month Executive Committee and organized by Jason Miller, a member of the U of M art museum staff.
The winning artwork, which will be announced Feb. 1, will be the official image for the March 2016 celebration of Women’s History Month. It will be displayed on yard signs, posters and other places on campus and around the city. The winner will also be recognized at the Women’s History Month closing ceremony at the end of the month.
The winning entry will be selected by a panel of faculty, staff and student members of the Women's History Month Executive Committee.
Entered artwork should be designed with this year’s U of M Women’s History Month theme, “We Can Do It,” in mind. The theme is in line with the University’s new motto, "Driven by Doing," and symbolized by modern and diverse "Rosie the Riveters."
All currently enrolled undergraduate and graduate students from any department are encouraged to enter.
More details on how to enter can be found on the Women’s History Month webpage or by emailing questions to Jason Miller at jgmiller@memphis.edu.
