The University of Memphis Police Services responded to a total of 21 incidents from April 1 to April 19.
On April 1 at 1:15 p.m., an officer arrived at the South Lot where a student had his driver side door broken into and his stereo missing.
On April 2 at 9:00 p.m., police arrived at the Information Lot where two students had stolen a handgun and fled. The complainant said he was attempting to sell the weapon to the two students when the incident occurred.
Later that day at 9:59 p.m., an officer arrived at Richardson Towers where a resident had his wallet stolen. The student said he left his wallet with his friends in the room around 3:00 p.m., but he returned to find the wallet missing.
On April 6 at 10:25 a.m., an officer arrived at the University Center where a student had left their laptop in the Tech Hub overnight. When the student returned, the laptop was missing and was not turned in.
Later that day at 9:20 p.m., police arrived at the Information Lot where a student was jumped by several unknown males. The student later recanted his story and said he knew the suspects and that only one had struck him during the incident.
On April 7 at 10:26 a.m., an officer arrived at the Fed Ex Institute of Technology where a student had lost her iPhone. She attempted to call it several times, but someone had turned the phone off.
Later that day at 1:50 p.m., police arrived at the South Lot where a man was seen taking a tire and wheel off of a Nissan and loading it into a Buick. The suspect was arrested for theft of property later that day and taken to jail.
Later that day at 3:42 p.m., a resident filed a walk in complaint at Police Services where her student ID had been lost. The student discovered that dining dollars had been at several locations around campus. The case is under investigation.
Later that day at 3:45 p.m., an officer arrived at the Pan Hellenic Building where a student left his laptop overnight. He arrived the next day to find the laptop missing.
On April 8 at 9:25 a.m., an officer arrived at Deloach where a leaf blower was stolen from the bed of a pickup truck that was parked in the driveway of a University rental property.
Later that morning at 9:30 a.m., a University staff member reported that the left rear wheel hub on a University vehicle was spray painted while in the Towers West Lot.
Later that morning at 11:49 a.m., an officer arrived at the Conlee Lot where a student had his passenger door broken into and his stereo missing.
On April 9 at 3:36 p.m. an officer arrived at the Towers West Lot where a resident noticed that someone had keyed the driver’s side of his vehicle from the front to the back.
Later that evening at 9:12 p.m., an officer arrived on Park Avenue where a student was receiving threatening text messages from unknown numbers. The case is under investigation.
On April 10 at 12:15 a.m., an officer arrived at Richardson Towers where a resident had his room broken into and had his laptop and gaming system stolen.
Later that evening at 7:30 p.m., police arrived at the Information Center Lot where a man in a vehicle was given a misdemeanor citation for trespassing. The man was verbally trespassed from the University.
On April 14 at 10:50 a.m., a student filed a walk in complaint where the student had received threats in relation to a prior complaint. The case is still under investigation.
Later that afternoon at 1:45 p.m., an officer arrived at Lot 37 near Patterson and Central where a resident had his vehicle keyed overnight.
On April 16 at 9:37 a.m., a student filed a walk in complaint where her ID card was used to make several unapproved transactions. The student said the last time she had her ID was late January.
Later that afternoon at 4:23 p.m., an officer arrived at the South Lot where a man in a dark colored older sedan exposed himself to a female student. The man drove off when the student called the police.
Later that evening at 6:00 p.m., police arrived at Richardson Towers where a man involved in prior complaints and known to trespass was near the premises. Police found the man, gave him a misdemeanor citation, and led him off the campus.
