ROTC competition comes to U of M

Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps cadets from seven different schools will arrive at The University of Memphis to compete in a drill competition Saturday.

Marine Capt. Robert Wickham said the competition helps foster relationships among cadets from separate areas.

"It builds teamwork," he said. "It allows different units to get together to see how they function."

The schools participating in the event are The University of Memphis, North Georgia, South Carolina, Iowa State, Purdue, Savannah State and Ole Miss.

The competition begins at 7:30 a.m. at Shelby Farms with a variety of endurance activities. At 10 a.m., the drill meet will move to The University for platoon activities.

An awards ceremony will be held at 3 p.m. following the completion of the competition.
