Police beat: August 2

July 23

12:38 p.m.

Police responded to a theft call from Wilder Tower. Martin Hankins reported that on July 2 he was in a study room. Hankins left the room for about 15 minutes, and when he returned, his textbook was missing. Estimated loss is $140.

July 23

4:50 p.m.

Police responded to a theft call at the Zach Curlin parking garage. A woman reported that she came back to her car at 4:50 p.m. on July 23 to find that the sticker on the top right area of her license plate had been cut off. She said that she last noticed her sticker on July 20. No other articles were missing. Estimated loss is $106.

July 27

10:13 a.m.

Police responded to a criminal trespass call at the McWherter Library. Percy Edwards was found sleeping on a couch on the fourth floor. Edwards attempted to give a false ID. He was originally placed on criminal trespass on March 14, 1997, and was caught stealing out of the bookstore on March 7.

July 27

11:46 a.m.

Police responded to a theft call at the Administration Building. A student reported that between July 13 at 1 p.m. and July 16 at 11:50 a.m., someone stole her wallet from her purse while she was attending orientation. The wallet included her credit, debit and social security card, as well as her driver's license.

July 27

3:13 p.m.

Police responded to a burglary call at South lot. Heather Liles reported that she parked her car between 3 and 5 p.m. Liles reported that when she left the lot, she saw a middle aged man with light complexion, medium built and short hair watching from a small red pickup truck as she put her purse in the car trunk. Liles found it suspicious. When she returned, she found that her car had been broken into. Estimated loss is $453.

July 29

11:30 a.m.

Police responded to a theft call at Richardson Towers North. A man reported that he parked his car at 9:30 p.m. on July 28. When he came back the next day at 11 a.m., he found the catalytic converter missing.
