Krystal on campus holding auditions

Have you always wanted to be a rock star or yearned for a movie career? If so, then Krystal has the job for you.

On Wednesday, April 19, Krystal will will come to The University of Memphis to shoot their next series of commercials, and students are buzzing.

Tiffany Wilson, a freshman accounting major, said that it's good that Krystal chose to shoot their commercial here.

"The fact that they are coming here shows that our school and our city is coming up," Wilson said.

She said that even though the commercial is a great thing for students it might be a small distraction.

"I think students will be a little bothered by the lights and cameras, but ultimately if it boosts school pride, then it's okay," Wilson said.

She added that being in front of the camera isn't for everyone, but it's a really good thing for students.

"I wouldn't want to be in the commercial, but it's still a fun opportunity," she said.

Yolanda Stitts, a sophomore biology major, agreed that the commercial was a positive thing for our campus, but doesn't think the bells and whistles will have much affect.

"The commercial will really only affect those students who like to be in the spotlight, but some students, like me, are just trying to get to class," Stitts said.

She said the commercial will only disrupt a few students, but overall it won't be a big deal.

"I'm a behind-the-scenes kind of person," Stitts said. "I like to just stand back and focus on work as opposed to trying to be in a commercial."

She said she feels people on campus will be receptive to the auditions.

"The last time a news crew was here a lot of people in my class were eager to be on camera," she said. "People on this campus like to be where the action or the cameras are, so a commercial for them is great."

Melissa Williams, a junior business major, said a commercial would be a good for campus morale.

"Students will be excited that they chose to shoot it here instead of Rhodes or Christian Brothers, and that will be a positive feeling for students," Williams said.

She said that students may skip class to try to and sneak on set, but it won't be that big of a problem.

"I mean, even I would love to be in the commercial," she said. "Who wouldn't want to be on television?"

Officials from Krystal could not be reached for comment on the details of the shoot.
