The University of Memphis issued a personal safety alert Wednesday to U of M students and faculty because of three armed robberies that took place in neighborhoods near campus.
The alert was issued when a male black suspect between the ages of 19 and 23 wearing dark clothing and a black baseball cap reportedly robbed three victims with a shotgun. Witnesses reported to police that there were possibly two other black male accomplices who remained in vehicles while the crimes were committed.
"We are concerned about the safety and well being of students," said Bruce Harber, director of public safety. "We are just trying to inform students."
