Police Beat: October 20

Thursday, Sept. 19

9:20 a.m.

Police responded to a theft call at 505 Zach Curlin. Jeffery Wright told police that he placed his book bag down in class at 8 a.m. and discovered that the bag was missing when his class was over. Wright said that he later found his book bag in the downstairs main hallway by the water fountain with his cell phone missing.

Thursday, Sept. 19

1:25 p.m.

Police responded to a theft call at the Physical Plant and Planning building at 3750 DeSoto. Kimberly Wilson told police that on Sept. 27 at 2:45 p.m. all the weed eaters were chained and padlocked in the campus landscaping building. When she returned on Sept. 28 at 8:30 a.m., one of the weed eaters was missing. Estimated loss was $300.

Tuesday, Oct. 4

1:07 p.m.

Kevin Cooper reported to police that his 1985 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme was stolen from the Towers East parking lot between 10 p.m. on Oct. 3 and 1 p.m. on Oct. 4. Estimated loss was $6,000.

Tuesday, Oct. 4

2:42 p.m.

Wesley Gifford reported to police that someone stole his Compaq Presario laptop computer from his dorm room sometime between 9 p.m. on Oct. 3 and 8 a.m. on Oct. 4. Estimated loss was $1,299.

Thursday, Oct. 6

5:30 a.m.

Police responded to a theft call at the 3700 block of Southern. Brad Davis told police that he parked his car at 10:35 p.m. and when he returned at 5:15 a.m. he found the right passenger window broke out and his radio missing. Estimated loss was $400.

Thursday, Oct. 6

8 a.m.

Drew Robertson reported to police that at 7:50 a.m. he returned to his vehicle at the Southern parking lot and found his right front window and rear window had been broken out and his CD player, speakers and amp had been stolen. Estimated loss was $1,700.

Thursday, Oct. 6

8:55 p.m.

Police responded to a drug call at Carpenter Complex after a complaint regarding an odor of marijuana was made. Police and Jeff Fenlong, student-housing coordinator, entered the residence with permission to investigate the claim. Upon entering, police detected an odor of marijuana and asked the resident, April Tucker, if there was any marijuana on the property. Tucker told police that she had marijuana in her backpack and gave it to police. Tucker was issued a misdemeanor citation for simple possession and placed on trespass status.

Sunday, Oct. 9

9 a.m.

Edward McClure reported to police that his textbook and calculator were stolen from the Fogelman College of Business third floor on Sept. 29 around 6 p.m. Estimated loss was $192.

Monday, Oct. 10

4:06 p.m.

Lashunda Simmons reported to police that she left her purse in the sound studio at 3745 Central Ave. at 10:05 a.m. Her purse contained her cell phone, her identification, cash and her dorm key. Estimated loss was $291.

Tuesday, Oct. 11

8:30 a.m.

Anne Apple reported to police that her vehicle was broken into between 8:11 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. while it was parked in the Conlee parking lot. The left window had been broken out and her purse was stolen. Estimated loss was $1,178.
