Police Beat: September 22

Thursday, Sept. 8

11 p.m.

Police responded to a theft of a motor vehicle report at the Southern and Echles parking lot. A student reported that he returned to his vehicle at 7:45 p.m. and found it unharmed. When he returned later at 11 p.m. the vehicle was missing. Estimated loss was $6,000.

Friday, Sept. 9

11 p.m.

Brittany Bacon reported to police that sometime between 11 a.m. on Sept. 6 and 11 p.m. on Sept. 7, someone stole her gas cap and a full tank of gas from her 2005 Ford Escape while it was parked on the third floor of the Zach Curlin parking garage. Estimated loss was $55.

Monday, Sep. 12

8 p.m.

Amy Combs reported to police that on Sept. 8 at around 7:30 p.m., she entered the Life Sciences basement to work with the animals. At 8 p.m., Combs noticed her wallet was missing. Combs did check the area she was working and traced her steps back to her vehicle and could not find her wallet. Estimated loss was $30.

Tuesday, Sept. 13

1:06 p.m.

Police responded to a vandalism call at the music building at 3775 Central Ave. Michael Johnson advised that between 5 p.m. on Sept. 12 and 1 p.m. on Sept. 13, his office window had been broken. There was a hole in the glass approximately 1 inch in diameter. Estimated loss was $550.

Wednesday, Sept. 14

12:58 p.m.

Police responded to an embezzlement call at The University bookstore. Tim Ruggiero told police that an employee had been stealing money from the cash drawer. Gina Price was issued a misdemeanor citation for theft of property and placed on trespass status. Estimated loss was $280.

Thursday, Sept. 15

Elizabeth Ursin reported to police that she left a black book bag full of books near the door of the bookstore because she did not have a quarter for a locker. When she returned a few minutes later, the bag was gone. Estimated loss was $173.25.
