Hunt returns from suspension

TAMPA, Fla. - Memphis junior guard Jeremy Hunt rejoined the team Wednesday after serving a two-game suspension.

Hunt was suspended after he was arrested on misdemeanor assault charges in connection with a complaint filed by his former girlfriend. The school released a statement before Wednesday night's game at South Florida regarding Hunt's status.

"The case remains in the criminal justice system and Hunt's innocence or guilt has not been proven," the statement said. "However, the university has gathered additional information and, in consultation with faculty representatives, legal counsel, police services, and athletic department officials, determined that he will be allowed to return to competition so long as he complies with the mandate that he receive services from the university's center for student development."

The school said last Thursday that Hunt would not be in uniform until university officials investigated the matter.

He also missed seven games this season with a broken left wrist before being declared fit to play early last week.
