University of Memphis students can expect a day of fun in thesun and an evening of culture at two U of M events Saturday --Spring Fling and International Night.
"Saturday will be a big fun-filled day," said Chris Hawk, chairof the Student Activities Council's traditions committee.
Spring Fling will begin at noon at the University Center AlumniMall. This year, the four-hour event has a Hawaiian theme, saidHawk. Students will receive Hawaiian leis, lip balm and free SpringFling T-shirts.
In addition to the Hawaiian theme, students can expect a varietyof activities on the UC lawn, such as body art tattoos and arock-climbing wall.
"Last year's Spring Fling was definitely exciting," said juniorNeil Carrigan. "Having a rock climbing wall this year should befun."
Freshman Pametria Brown said she's looking forward to the newevent.
"I saw the flier, and it sounds like a fun way to spend aSaturday," Brown said.
The event, sponsored by the Student Activities Council, is freeto all students.
Following Spring Fling, students are invited to the UC Ballroomat 6 p.m. for International Night. This annual event promises toexpose U of M students to the various cultures of theirclassmates.
"International Night is an event with University of Memphisinternational students, as well as American students, showcasingtheir talents," said international student adviser BrendaCowans.
These talents include dances and musical performances.
Advance tickets are on sale for $5 for those with a U of M ID,$3 for children 12 and younger, and $7 for non-student adults.
Tickets will also be available at the door at $7 for students,$5 for children and $9 for non-students.
