Break necessary for stressed out college students

With the end of the semester within reach, almost every studentis looking forward to a long semester break, which some will use torecuperate from a trying semester.

"I need this break to reboot and to get organized," saidsophomore Jennifer Kelly. "This semester has been crazy."

Several other students have deemed this their hardest, mostfrustrating semester at The University of Memphis.

"I have a professor who doesn't explain things, and it reallydoes get me frustrated," said sophomore Myla Young. "I want to dobetter next semester because I have shed quite a few tears offrustration this semester."

Junior Carmanaise London is a student resident advisor and isinvolved in on-campus activities, so she's looking forward to abreak as well.

"I have so many papers to do and meetings to attend. It's awonder I can get them all done," London said.

Sophomore Tanya Gomez used one word to describe this semester --"sucky."

"This semester has presented me with so many problems," Gomezsaid. "I have had family issues and financial issues. Any issuethat you can create -- I've had it. Professors just don't realizethat we have more than one class."

Sophomore Stephanie Suell said her frustration comes from herteachers and their nationalities.

"I have foreign professors in my hardest classes, and thatdrives me nuts," Suell said. "I have had to drop classes because Ican't understand what they are saying."

With family and social activities, school and work, it is nowonder so many students are excited about the holiday break. Butthe holidays can be stressful, too.

"With my medium to large size family, the holidays are bigevents and are usually very stressful," Young said. "I don't knowif Thanksgiving and Christmas break will actually be a break forme."

The main thing, the students said, is just to take time to takeit easy over the break.

"I am going to sleep and eat -- and sleep some more," Gomezsaid.
