Eve 6 coming to Memphis, debuting new CD for fans

Eve 6's $6 tour is stopping in Memphis tonight at the New Daisy Theater.

The group has been on tour playing mostly small clubs and radio shows, trying to expose people to their sound, which many critics compare to Green Day.

Despite their punk buzz and the fact that they have toured extensively with Third Eye Blind with their last album, Jon Siebels of Eve 6 said they were trying to avoid a particular label for their music.

"We actually try to avoid the niche and not get stuck in a genre,' Siebels said in a phone interview. "We just write good songs and music that makes us feel good."

Their new record, "It's All in Your Head," released last week, was two years in the making. Their first album reached 33 on the Billboard Top 200.

Eve 6's tour, according to Siebels, is a chance to debut their new material and to reward fans for their listening for the last five years.

The band has been playing together since high school, and despite their age -- all under 20 -- Siebels said they have developed a strong commitment to making real songs that mean something to people.

"The shows are always fun, with lots of interaction -- we really try to connect with people and we feed off the crowd," Siebels said.

The band has received a fair amount of press after their lead singer and bass player, Max Collins, 19, went to jail for running around a hotel lobby naked in Pittsburgh, according to Siebels.

"It happened like a month and a half ago, and people are still talking about it," Siebels said.

"But it was kind of funny."
