Wilder Tower the most recent installment of the remodelingeffort by The University of Memphis is complete-- well, notexactly.
With several U of M departments moving into the tower, there arestill some unwanted guests and finishing touches that have to bemade.
Bugs, holes and other minor repairs are still underway, even asnew offices and services opened.
Wilder has been open to students since April, but the move isscheduled to be completed in July, according to Drew Schmitz,communication specialist for the Physical Plant office.
The Tennessee Board of Regents approved and allocated $12million for the Wilder Tower and Brister Library renovationproject.
The Brister Library, which was also made part of the WilderTower renovation efforts, brings the total available space to75,000 square feet, according to Schmitz.
Wilder Tower has 12 floors, of which only the basement to theseventh floor is currently slated for use, while the other four areready for future expansion.
The overhaul efforts became official in 1996, and actualconstruction began in July 2001.
