If you were a fan of The Fast and the Furious, then 2 Fast 2Furious will give you more of what you love: more cars, fasterchases and more good cop/bad cop, and it is doubtful you will missVin Diesel.
In this sequel, Brian O'Connor (Paul Walker), who played the copwho flipped sides in the first movie, finds himself in trouble withthe law after the opening race scene.
To get his record clean, he must help the police get a drugtrafficker by going undercover. He recruits his childhood friend,Roman Pearce (Tyrese Gibson), who had already had his share oftrouble with the law, to help him with the drug lord's drivingchallenge: to drive bags of money to his jet.
However, things get tricky when O'Connor and Pearce are not surewhether the beautiful undercover agent Monica Fuentes (Eva Mendes),who has been acting as the drug lord's girlfriend for a year, is indanger or is a danger herself.
The acting is, as you would expect, definately not a highlight. The second movie, like the first, is about cars for people who likecars, and the acting, while not terrible, is certainly not verygood.
However, the plot is surprisingly good for the fact that easilyover 60 percent of the movie is actual racing. Expect lots ofcrashes, boats, bets and expensive cars with new and better speedgadgets.
There is also more car variety in the sequel: of course thereare the shiny stylized Cobra kit cars, Toyota Supra, NissanSkyline, Honda S2000, Mazda RX7 and a Mitsubishi Eclipse Spiderthat look like toys, but are armed with nitrous and seriousengines.
However, there is also a good showing by the muscle cars usedthroughout the movie that have that All-American motor with a meangrowl.
Set in Miami and Las Vegas- expect scantily clad people andabundant sexual innuendo.
The soundtrack is hip hop and the lifestyle portrayed is likeone big MTV's spring break, but the movie satisfies a certainsummer itch for lighthearted speed and predictability.
The film grossed 50.4 million in its first three days ofrelease, but probably spent that in wrecked police cars alone.
If you weren't a fan of the original, you are setting yourselfup for disappointment with the sequel. If you like fast cars, for100 minutes 2 Fast 2 Furious will dish up all the muscle, speed andtrick driving you can handle.
