The University of Memphis has decided not to terminate theemployment of volleyball head coach Carrie Yerty after allegationsof excessive disciplinary actions of her players.
The Helmsman reported Yerty allegedly punished the players whoadmitted to smoking cigarettes by making them run and smoke acigarette in between the laps.
U of M counsel Sheri Lipman said athletic director R.C. Johnsonwill not terminate Yerty, but will carry out disciplinary actionwhich has not been decided. Lipman said The University has knownabout the incident since April 2. Neither Lipman nor Johnson wouldconfirm the accounts of what happen.
Since her seven seasons as coach of the Lady Tigers, the teamhas compiled a record of 110-122.
