While patrolling the second floor of the University Center, an officer noticed a suspect watching television in the lounge area. After the suspect stated his name, the officer asked a dispatcher to run a check. The dispatcher advised that the suspect had been placed on criminal trespass status on May 20 by two officers. The two officers arrived on the scene and arrested the man, who was then transported to the University of Memphis police headquarters. The suspect was carrying a black Nike backpack containing personal items. He told the officers he had been homeless for approximately six months. After the defendant was issued a misdemeanor citation, he was released and escorted off campus by an officer.
Wednesday, July 17
4:23 p.m.
Officers responded to a theft of vehicle parts and accessories call at 3872 Tiger Paw. The victim told the officers she had parked her car at 11:30 p.m. the previous day. On Wednesday at 4:15 p.m., the victim returned to her car and noticed that her CD player was missing from the dashboard and that several dash panels had been removed. The officer did not observe any forcible method of entry. The value of parts and accessories totaled $100, according to the police report.

8:35 a.m.
An officer responded to a burglary in the Administration Building, following up on a report taken the previous night. The officer discovered Rooms 401, 407 and 411 were broken into by way of removing molding and glass panes from the doors. The stolen items were valued at $1,177.
