A female victim reported to Police Services that her wallet had been stolen from the Psychology Building. The victim told the officers she went to class at 9:15 a.m., then left when class was over at 11:45 a.m. While on the way to her vehicle, she reached for her keys in her purse and noticed her wallet was missing. The victim said her purse was not left unattended at any time. She told the officers she canceled all of her credit cards. Officers estimated property loss at $160.

Wednesday, June 26

12:38 p.m.

An officer responded to a call from the Ned W. McWherter Library regarding a theft. The victim stated she had left her gray Sprint cellular telephone on a rack in a stall in the women’s room on the fourth floor of the library around 10 a.m. At 12:15 p.m., the victim realized she had left the telephone in the restroom, but upon returning she could not find it there. The victim told the officer the phone was in a black leather case and that she’d paid $210 for the phone. According to the report, a call was made from the phone at 10:15 a.m. The victim called Sprint to cancel her service.

Thursday, June 27

4:48 p.m.

An officer responded to a call regarding a theft in the University Center Ballroom. The victim told the officer someone had stolen some of the Varsity Spirit Girls Dance Team’s property when she and the team went to Richardson Towers for dinner between 4:15 p.m. and 5:15 p.m. The coordinator stated that the ballroom was not locked and the girls had left their property along the ballroom wall. Seven compact disc players valued at $297 were stolen, as well as 300 lollipops valued at $225.

Friday, June 28

4:11 p.m.

Officers responded to a call at the Student Recreation and Fitness Center. A lifeguard on duty told the officers she observed two subjects in close physical contact in the pool. Due to children being present and the suspects breaking pool rules and regulations, the lifeguard asked them to stop. In return, the male subject gave the lifeguard a stare and continued the close contact with the female. A few minutes later, another lifeguard asked both subjects to leave. At the same time the lifeguards’ supervisor called university police. After officers arrived, the male subject was questioned. He told the officers he worked at the Physical Plant Building and was also a student at The University. The male subject also told officers the female subject was his girlfriend. The female subject was placed on trespass status, and the male subject was informed the report will be sent to his supervisor and Judicial Affairs.

Wednesday, July 3

11:25 p.m.

An officer responded to an aggravated assault call at a fraternity house. The officer requested backup after arriving on the scene. The victim told officers the suspect had threatened him with a knife. The victim said an argument over beer cans being thrown in the yard of the fraternity had started the incident. When the victim confronted the group of individuals, he told the police, the suspect became verbally abusive toward the victim and began waving a knife around. The victim said he called the police because he was in fear for his life. Upon the arrival of officers, the suspect tried to place the knife in a sheath located on his belt. The officers detected an odor of intoxication on the suspect along with bloodshot, watery eyes. The suspect was taken into custody, but the victim told officers he did not wish to prosecute the suspect.

Thursday, July 4

6:16 p.m.

An officer responded to a theft of property call from a residence hall on South Campus. The victim said her 10-speed bike was taken sometime between July 3 and 4. The victim stated the bike was parked on the back porch area of her apartment at approximately 2:20 p.m. on the evening of July 3. The victim noticed the bike missing at 5:30 p.m. on July 4. The bike is described as a dark-purple, girls’ 10-speed bike with a rusty chain. Estimated value of the bike is $120.

Saturday, July 6

11:30 p.m.

Officers responded to a call from a Tiger Paw emergency phone regarding an attempted suicide. Upon arrival, a male told officers that he had taken six Excedrin pills at 9:30 p.m. in an attempt to kill himself. The victim said he took six more Excedrin pills at 11:00 p.m.

He also informed the officers he flooded his eyes with penicillin drops. The victim told officers he wanted to kill himself because of an altercation with his girlfriend. The victim was transported to the hospital for an emergency committal.
