University of Memphis forward Chris Massie pulled his name out of the NBA Draft last week and apparently will attempt to return to The U of M for his senior season.
It is still not clear, however, whether the 6-6, 245-pound Massie will be eligible to play for the Tigers next season. Head coach John Calipari has said Massie has plenty of coursework ahead of him to become eligible to play, partly because he withdrew early from spring classes to enter the draft.
Massie, who averaged 9.1 points and 8.4 rebounds for the Tigers last season, would miss the first half of the season while attempting to become academically eligible. After becoming eligible, Massie would be forced to sit out an additional two games because he played in two games at the NBA pre-draft camp in Chicago.
Attempts by The Daily Helmsman to reach Massie at his home were unsuccessful.
