Ric Hovda, who was hired as dean of the College of Education in the spring, will officially take over the reins of the school on Monday.
Hovda, who replaced Nathan Essex after Essex left The University of Memphis to become president of Southwest Tennessee Community College, had been with the University of Missouri at St. Louis. He has also served as director of the Center for the Collaborative Advancement of the Teaching Profession and as a professor at the Department of Early and Middle Childhood Education at the University of Louisville.
Hovda will be taking over a college which includes five departments and 54 degree programs.
