Monday, March 25, 6:40 p.m.
Two students called U of M officers after discovering money was missing from their dormitory. The victims told officers they left their dorm room and locked it at approximately 9:10 a.m. When the two returned from class around 11 a.m., they noticed the room door was unlocked. The victim stated that $20 from her purse and an additional $20 from her desk drawer was missing. Her other roommate added that $20 was missing out of her purse.
Thursday, March 28, 8:30 p.m.
A resident at Robison Hall called University of Memphis police advising that he could smell marijuana coming from the first room floor. Two officers located the room and knocked on the door but no one answered.
The officer said he could hear someone inside the room and advised that he was entering the room. When the officer opened the door, she found three people in the room. On the coffee table, the officer observed a marijuana pipe, rolling papers and other paraphernalia. Also found on the table was marijuana residue. The officer then searched all three suspects and found a plastic bag containing 3.2 grams of marijuana.
Friday, March 29, 8:45 p.m.
An officer responded to a theft call from Rawls Hall after a worker sitting at the lobby desk reported his bookbag stolen. The worker said he left his bookbag unattended on the countertop for a moment and upon his return, his bookbag was gone. Total estimated loss was $160.
Monday, April 1, 10:15 a.m.
A U of M officer responded
to a simple assault call at the Rivers Edge building.
The victim stated that he entered the doors leading into the building when the three suspects surrounded him and attacked him.
The victim stated that he tried to defend himself and sustained only minor injuries. The victim was advised of his rights to contact Citizen’s Dispute to seek resolution or warrants for the suspects.
Tuesday, April 2, 1 a.m.
A U of M officer responded to a disturbance call from the Carpenter Complex when a student living in the apartments advised that the suspect refused to leave the apartment.
The suspect asked the victim if he could come in and use her phone.
The victim gave him permission to use the phone and she told the suspect she was going to bed.
After using her phone, the victim asked the suspect to leave and he soon left.
Later that evening, the victim woke up and found the suspect still in the apartment.
She then asked him to leave and he complied.
Soon after, the suspect began to bang on the door. The victim then decided to contact police services and the officers placed the victim under arrest and charged with a criminal trespass.
