Any kid will tell you a successful Saturday morning requires two ingredients. The first is a bowl of sugar-coated sugar puff cereal (with sugar added). The second is a whole morning of great cartoons.
Whether it was Inspector Gadget (“Go, go, Gadget Arm!”) to the Gummi Bears (“Bouncing here and there and everywhere”), I knew all about it. I think I can quote whole episodes of Scooby Doo verbatim.
If you can relate, there’s a place on the ‘Net to relive those Saturday mornings.
Toonarific.com has an archive of literally hundreds of cartoons, plus lots of fun information about them. Most already contain a list of voice actors and an episode guide. Many contain photos taken from video captures.
From the obscure to the award-winning, Toonarific’s archive is a treasure trove of memories.
All that aside, the site has great interviews with cartoon bigwigs, including animators and voice artists. It also features a video trade program if you’re jonesing for old episodes. (They even offer the obscure ones, like Laverne and Shirley in the Army and Farmer Alfalfa.)
So turn on Cartoon Network, fire up the browser and learn a few new things about your old favorites. After all, like G.I. Joe says, “Knowing is half the battle.”
