A staff member in the Engineering Science Building reported to officers that his credit card receipt was stolen from his secretary’s inbox and used by the person who stole it. Three separate charges were made to the credit card, including $60 to Garibaldi’s Pizza and an attempted charge of $305 on East Bay. However, the order was not processed due to conflicting shipping addresses. The stolen credit card has been canceled according to police reports.
Wednesday, March 13, 8:40 a.m.
A University of Memphis faculty member reported to officers that his laptop computer was stolen from room 305 of the Smith Chemistry Building. The victim said he locked the door the previous day and upon returning an hour later, the computer was missing. The victim stated that no one has access to the room except for his office staff and the building’s cleaning crew. Nothing else was reported missing from the room. Officers said the suspect entered the room with a key and no damage could be found on the door leading to the room. There are no suspects at this time. Total estimated loss is $3,000.
Wednesday, March 13, 10:25 p.m.
An officer responded to a fight between two roommates at the Tiger Paw student apartments. The officer reported the fight started after the two began arguing about the up-keep of the apartment. After arguing for several minutes, a fight ensued. Both subjects received minor bruises and abrasions. The officer asked if either subject needed medical attention and both declined. The officer then said the incident would be turned over to judicial affairs.
Saturday, March 16, 12:55 p.m.
Officers responded to a theft of motor vehicle parts at the Zach Curlin parking lot. The victim told officers he observed that his license plate had been removed from his vehicle sometime between 7:15 a.m. on March 13 and noon March 16 while parked in the Zach Curlin lot.
