The new University Conference Center and Hotel, located in the Kemmons Wilson School of Hospitality and Resort Management at The University of Memphis, will be hosting Easter Sunday brunch.
The event will take place from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the Kemmons Wilson School on 3700 Central Avenue, just one day before the hotel’s officially scheduled opening.
In order to advertise for the brunch, numerous e-mails have been sent to U of M students and faculty. Nearly 8,500 postcards have also been distributed to local residents and ads appeared in the Commercial Appeal’s Playbook.
The Sunday brunch will be catered by award-winning Chef Edward Nowakowski, the hotel’s director of food and beverage services. He has worked for several upscale hotels around the country before coming to The U of M, including Hyatt, Regency and Adam’s Mark hotels.
Nowakowski is looking forward to his staff’s culinary debut on Easter Sunday.
“I’m ready for 600 people,” he said. “We are ready to compete with the best places in town, including the Peabody and the Adam’s Mark.”
Those who attend will have a variety of foods to choose from.
“We have a very nice, extensive banquet menu,” Nowakowski said. “For Sunday , we will have a kid’s buffet, an omelet and breakfast station, carving station and a huge dessert station.”
The menu will also consist of a pasta station and a cold buffet display.
The price for Easter brunch will be $19.95 for adults, $9.95 for children 4-12 and kids under four eat for free. Reservations are recommended, but walk-ins are welcome. Approximately 400 seats have already been sold and seating will be available until 2 p.m.
