Greeks always promote their own agenda

Dear Editor:

Greek politics strikes again! I let my Greek friend drag me to Pi Beta Phi Karaoke on Friday night. This is their philanthropy event to raise money for a good cause.

Now I know that Greeks do good things. They are student leaders on campus and raise lots of money for charity. But why is it that they can’t do anything without promoting their own agenda?

This event was an okay time. The different Greek chapters showed up to support Pi Phi’s event. They raised money to support Pi Phi’s event.

Their motivation? To leave with a first place trophy that named them Karaoke Champions. A pat on the back for their hard work practicing and raising money I guess.

Now, from my non-Greek point of view in the back row, Sigma Phi Epsilon had it made. They had brought the most people, were the loudest, raised the most money and they entertained the crowd with their performance.

So why is it that Alpha Tau Omega won first place, silencing the confused crowd? Because there is always a Greek agenda.

I knew I would be sorry, but I had to ask. Why did this other group not win? My friend says, “Oh, I think a Pi Phi dates that short guy over there.”

Way to encourage groups to participate in your event!

I think it is selfish to have your focus on your own agenda instead of the task at hand – raising money for charity.

Grow up. This is college – not high school.
