An officer responded to a theft call on Zach Curlin, and it was determined the crime happened sometime between Friday Jan. 25 and the morning of Jan. 28th.
Apparently, someone attempted to steal a case backhoe from the construction site at the northeast corner of the Campus School. The worker said the case backhoe had been moved approximately 15 feet and that the hydraulic line had been broken, causing hydraulic fluid to leak.
Also, the worker said the suspect apparently hit a rail and a brick wall while attempting to maneuver the backhoe from the job site.
Several bricks were also chipped or knocked out of the brick wall.
The worker said the suspect most likely had a key to operate the equipment but no one was authorized to operate the machinery over the weekend.
