Don't take our seats

Dear Editor:

Upon reading the article on the removal of some student seating at the Pyramid, I am beyond outraged.

Call me confused or just plain dumb, but taking seats from the student section is the single most degrading and embarassing thing a university can do.

What will we see next year? Students having to pay for nosebleed seats after the whole student section is removed?

The Tiger basketball program is not just about basketball — it’s about tradition.

Tiger basketball has a long tradition in Memphis. That’s why no one wants Grizzlies tickets.

Tiger basketball is here, and you, the foolish officials of this institution, want to take away our privilege of cheering on a team that has been drawing crowds for years.

All of this revolves around money, and it sickens me to the point of utter disgust. The thrill of Tiger basketball is losing its luster because a few greedy individuals want more money.

Well, as a proud student of The University of Memphis, I will take this opportunity to say to the rest of the student body: Get out there and support your Tigers.

Don’t let the people who run this school take away from something that has kept this school on the college sports map.

You know, they may take our seats at the games, but one thing will never be taken: Tiger tradition.

Let’s go Tigers! We are here for you!
