Amore's column contributes to unsafe atmosphere for women on campus

I am writing this email in regards to Mr. Marcus Matthews article “Mr. Amore's Love Corner.”

I found it to be degrading and sexist. I am furthermore appalled that something of this nature would be printed at a University that advertises that it is a “friendly and safe place.”

This type of material does not make a safe place for women on this campus. It objectifies women and has the underlying tone that men are superior and have the right to be extremely degrading to women (which oftentimes can lead to violence toward women).

I am horrified that this would be allowed at an institution of higher education, especially one that I, as a female, chose to receive my Ph.D. from.

I can't imagine that this would have been printed had it been derogatory toward a race, ethnicity, or someone with a disability. Why is it accepted when it is derogatory toward women?

I realize that freedom of speech exists, but this is entirely out of line for a newspaper at a University that so many women attend.
