Tuesday, Oct. 9

11:49 p.m.

Five officers responded to a fight at the Pan-Hellenic building. They found a large group of people standing outside the building. A student told officers that he was trying to break up an argument when someone hit him. The man had since left the area, but officers received word he was in the Richardson Towers South parking lot. After he was pointed out, he told officers that someone had pushed him. The victim is a student at the University, but the other man, who was placed on trespass status, is not a student.

Wednesday, Oct. 10

9:10 a.m.

An officer responded to a a theft report at the University Center’s game room. A student said that his backpack had been stolen while he was playing a video game. Although there were several people in the game room, nobody witnessed the theft, according to police reports. Estimated loss is $244.

Wednesday, Oct. 10

2:05 p.m.

Officers were dispatched to the Southern Parking Lot in response to an assault on a Parking Services officer. The assaulted officer said he had written a ticket for a vehicle, when the driver arrived and became angry. The student repeatedly cursed the parking officer, got into his car and almost struck the officer. He then got out, pushed the officer, then sped away when Police Services was called.

Thursday, Oct. 11

3:20 p.m.

An officer responded to a theft and vehicle vandalism call. The victim told the officer that someone broke out his driver’s side window and stole stereo equipment. Estimated loss is $3,650.

Saturday, Oct. 13

1:53 p.m.

A witness filed a vandalism report after he heard a car alarm and saw the vehicle it was coming from. He noticed two suspects trying to break into a Chevrolet Camaro in the Richardson Towers West parking lot. As the alarm sounded, the suspects ran, then left the lot in a Ford Crown Victoria, heading west on Norriswood. The witness was unable to get a clothing description or the tag information on the vehicle.

Tuesday, Oct. 16

1:15 a.m.

Officers were dispatched to the Zach Curlin parking lot regarding a report of a vehicle break-in in progress. When officers arrived at the scene, they did not observe anyone in the area, but they did find two vehicles that were broken into. Officers spoke with the reporting party, who said when he walked to his vehicle he observed a suspect breaking into one of the vehicles. He said that once the suspect saw him, the man ran to an older model blue Cadillac. The witness said that he was unable to get the tag information because the vehicle was backed into the east end of the lot. The witness also stated that he did not see anyone else in the Cadillac. The owners of the vehicles were contacted.
